About Puncak Jaya: Summits! Puncak Jaya, also known as Carstensz Pyramid, rises in the Sudirman Range of Papua, Indonesia. Unlike the other Seven Summits, reaching its true summit requires real technical rock climbing, making it widely considered the hardest of the seven for many mountaineers, despite being one of the shortest. Equatorial Ice — It is the only mountain on the equator with permanent glaciers — though they are disappearing rapidly.
