About Jericho: Jericho, near the Jordan River, is thought to be the oldest walled town in the world, lived in for about 11,000 years. Around 10,000 years ago its people built a huge stone wall and a nine-metre tower to protect the town. It grew up around a natural spring that still bubbles with fresh water in the desert today. Its people built a 9-metre stone tower around 10,000 years ago
